Sync to Surface (Design → Layout)
What it does
Takes each tracker’s string configuration from the System Inverter design and applies it to the surface layout.
Panels are placed/strung on surfaces using available pre‑position panels first.
If a tracker already has panels on a surface, it continues from those panels rather than starting fresh.
What it does NOT do
It does not guarantee perfect string paths if panels are already split across surfaces or rows; it preserves existing placements where possible.
It does not automatically “clean up” or remove extra pre‑position panels unless you choose a cleanup action.
Typical outcomes
If enough pre‑position panels exist on the correct surface, strings are added and the layout updates.
If a tracker has insufficient panels or is split across multiple surfaces, you’ll be prompted with a review dialog.
Review dialog behavior
“Suggested assignments” appear when panels exist but need confirmation before assignment.
“Trackers still unassigned” appears when no valid panels are available for that tracker.
If everything matches, the status shows as complete (green).
Recommended next step
If the string paths look irregular after syncing, run “Clean up string paths” (restring cleanup) to normalize the wiring.
Sync to Design (Layout → Design)
What it does
Reads the current surface layout (placed/strung panels) and updates tracker settings to match.
Updates System Inverter Module string counts and modules per string based on what’s on the surfaces.
What it does NOT do
It will not guess intent when panels are split across surfaces or trackers; it reports mismatches instead.
Typical outcomes
If layout is clean and consistent, the design updates silently and counts turn green.
If mismatches exist (e.g., panel counts don’t fit string limits), you’ll see a review dialog identifying which tracker needs attention.
Review dialog behavior
Lists each System Inverter / Tracker needing review (numbered from 1).
Provides quick links to open the tracker and fix manually.
Shows “unstrung” trackers if panels exist but are not assigned.
Offers “Clean off unstrung panels” when there are leftover pre‑position panels.
General notes
Sync works best when panels are grouped on a single surface per tracker.
If you want to preserve exact panel placement, avoid manual rearrangements between sync steps.
