Our Map Tools have been upgraded for a smoother, more intuitive design experience. Movable toolbars, adaptive layouts, and contextual tools streamline your workflow. Highlights include auto-fill surfaces, row/column highlighting, inverter color coding, and image locking — all designed to make designing faster, clearer, and more precise.
What are the Major Changes?
1. MAKING THINGS EASIER FOR YOU
A. Right-Click Options
We’ve added right-click options for drawn surfaces, giving you faster access to common actions. You can now also right-click obstructions and map markers and select Delete to remove them quickly from the map.
B. Smart Highlighting
To help users navigate their designs—especially for large systems—we’ve introduced Smart Highlighting. It makes it easier to track connections and manage panel layouts efficiently.
Select a tracker: Instantly see all panels associated with that tracker on the surface.
-
Hover over a panel: Quickly identify which tracker it belongs to.
2. SURFACE TOOLBAR UPGRADES
The toolbar is now part of its own Dynamic Island, which you can move around the workspace. There are three groups of tools on this island.
- Drag Icon - Use the drag icon to move the toolbar within the Map Area. It will stay in place for the remainder of your session.
-
Group A - Displays information about System Design and the panels placed on each surface. It also includes the new Panel Layout ↔ Design Sync feature, which lets you sync your layout/design from Panel Layout to System Design (and vice versa). For more information, see the Map Design Sync Feature.
-
Group B - Contains a single icon representing the suggested system based on your consumption and battery hours stored. Click the icon to view or hide the suggested system.
- Group C - Contains the main Surface and Design editing modes, including Draw Surface, Edit Surface, Place Panels, and String Arrays, along with their corresponding dynamic tools.
-
Draw Surface - Lets you create roof surfaces where panels can be added. This mode includes two dynamic tools:
1. Undo
2. Snapping
-
Edit Surface - Lets you edit the currently selected surface. In Edit mode, you can move the surface, adjust sides, set the base length, and show side measurements. This mode includes three dynamic tools:
1. Undo
2. Set Base Length
3. Delete Surface
-
Place Panels - Lets you select or deselect panels on the surface that you want to add to System Design. This mode includes four dynamic tools:
1. Undo
2. Auto String
3. Clear Panels
4. Panel Opacity
-
String Arrays -Lets you create panel strings on the surface. This mode includes five dynamic tools:
1. Undo
2. Auto String
3. Realtime panel count per tracker
4. Clear Stringing
5. Panel Opacity
6. Panel Render
-
Draw Surface - Lets you create roof surfaces where panels can be added. This mode includes two dynamic tools:
3. ICON CLEAN-UP
With the toolbar updates, the right-hand section of the screen has been reorganized to improve workspace visibility and provide a cleaner, more intuitive icon layout.
- Top Right Section - The top-right section now includes only three icons: Full Screen, Capture Image, and Save.
- Top Bottom Section - The bottom toolbar now includes only five icons: 3D View, Solar Performance Snapshot, Annual Exposure Heat Map, Zoom Controls, and Compass.
3. MAP LAYERS CHANGES
Map Layers have been relocated to the left side of the page, below the main Map sections. To select a Historical Map layer, hover over the selected map layer—available Historical Map options will appear.
4. DESIGN TOOLBAR UPDATES
We’ve updated the Design Toolbar icons for a cleaner layout, now organized into five key sections: Surface/Array Designer, Shading & Obstructions, Battery Selector, Image Overlay, and Map Markers.
A. Surface/Array Designer
The Surface/Array Designer now includes Surface Settings and System Designer. Several updates and improvements have been made to this section, as outlined below.

Surfaces Settings:
-
Design System:
i. Pre-existing Check Boxes:
ii. We’ve updated the Stringing UI to provide a clearer view of each string for every MPPT, making it easier to see how many strings exist and how many panels are in each string.
1. To add a string, simply click on the next string (e.g., click S2 to enable a second string).
2. To revert back, select the previous string (e.g., S1) to indicate the MPPT has only one string.
3. For inverters with more than 3 strings, an input field will be available where you can enter the specific number of strings.iii. Tracker Sync – As part of the new Sync feature, this lets you synchronize the current tracker with the panel layout—or sync the panel layout back to the tracker—so your design and layout stay aligned. For more details, see the Map Design Sync Feature page.
B. Shading & Obstructions
Functionality remains unchanged. We’ve updated the icon to match the cleaner, more minimalist look of the new Map Design.
C. Battery Selector
Functionality remains unchanged. We’ve updated the icon to align with the cleaner, more minimalist style of the new Map Design.
D. Image Overlay
The Image Overlay section now includes the main image upload feature along with settings for managing uploaded images. If no image has been uploaded yet, clicking the icon opens the image upload pop-up. For more information, see Building plans and drone images.
D. Map Markers
Functionality remains unchanged, with an updated icon to match the cleaner, more minimalist style of the new Map Design.
5. ICON WE'VE REMOVED
The old System Designer (which directed you to the Solar & Battery Design page) has been retired. To access the Solar & Battery Design page for adding battery systems or editing other key design parameters, hover over the More Options icon in the Designer Header section.
