Troubleshooting: Blank Map or Design Screen (WebGL Errors)
If you are experiencing a blank white screen or an infinite loading icon when opening the Design page, this is typically related to a WebGL/Graphics initialization error.
This can occur unexpectedly due to recent browser updates, high memory usage, or your computer's hardware acceleration settings being disabled. Follow these three steps in order to restore your map display.
1. Enable Hardware Acceleration
The design interface requires your computer's Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) to render maps. If "Hardware Acceleration" is turned off, Chrome may fail to initialize the map instance.
Open Chrome Settings (the three dots in the top-right corner).
Navigate to System in the left-hand menu.
Locate "Use graphics acceleration when available" and ensure it is toggled ON.
Click Relaunch to restart the browser completely.
2. Verify WebGL Support
To confirm that your browser and graphics card are communicating correctly, perform a quick compatibility test:
Visit get.webgl.org.

Look for a spinning cube.
If you see the cube: WebGL is working; the issue may be memory-related (see Step 3).
If you do NOT see the cube: Your current browser or GPU combination is blocking the map engine. You may need to update your graphics drivers or check for browser updates.
3. Resolve "GPU Context Loss"
The error "Mapbox instance not initialized" often occurs when your browser's "GPU Memory" is exhausted. This is common if you have dozens of tabs open or other high-performance applications running simultaneously.
Action: Close any unnecessary browser tabs and background applications.
Refresh: Once you have freed up memory, refresh the SolarPlus page.
When generating two separate reports using the same model, the results show inconsistencies — specifically, the yield values and shading effect values differ between the reports.
- Our development team has identified that the inconsistency in yield and shading effect values is linked to switching into 3D view. This can cause the reports to show different results even when using the same model.
- Until a fix is released, we recommend finalizing your design in 2D view, making sure to save it there, and then avoiding switching into 3D view and re-saving the quote afterward. This will ensure the reports generate consistent and correct values.
