After setting up the string design, you can go to the balance of system (BoS) view:
Mountings/mounting kits/tilt frames
To apply mounting kits or tilt frames, go to the “Mount” tab of the BoS view (note that the mounting component may not show any items to select if you don’t have them in your inventory. Check this page for help with setting up inventory items and mounting kits https://solarplus.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/10915959483023-Inventory-pricebook-management#Inventorypricebookmanagement-MountingKits):
Optimiser/optimizer
Go to the “Optimise” tab to select an optimiser and optionally set the module mismatch value (you will need to import the optimisers from the product library to your inventory before being able to select them)
DC isolator and cables
Select DC isolators and set up cable lengths as needed in their respective sections:
AC isolators, energy meters, monitors, and cables
Go to the Solar & Battery Designer view > add AC isolators and adjust AC cables in their respective sections. (click and open the inverterstring design to view the AC isolator/monitor section):
REVERSE TILTS:
What Are Reverse Tilts?
Reverse tilts refer to a mounting method where solar panels are installed at an angle opposite to the natural slope of a pitched roof. This is done using a tilt frame or mounting system to achieve the ideal orientation for maximum solar energy production.
Why Use Reverse Tilts?
Reverse tilts are used when a roof’s natural slope is not facing the optimal direction for solar generation. For example:
- In the Southern Hemisphere (e.g., Australia), north-facing panels produce the most energy.
- If a roof slopes south, panels installed flush with the roof will generate less power.
- A reverse tilt system allows panels to face north, improving efficiency.
How to do Reverse Tilts in SolarPlus:
-
Draw the South-Facing Array
- If the surface faces south, draw it in SolarPlus with the gutter line on the north.
- Apply a negative pitch and adjust the height as needed.
-
Create the Roof Layout & Design
- Once the roof layout and design are complete, select the tracker where you want to apply reverse tilts.
- Click on BOS (Balance of System) to access mounting settings.
-
Select the Mounting Type
- Under Mounting Type, choose Tilt Frame.
- Under Mounting Type, choose Tilt Frame.
-
Set the Tilt Angle
- Enter the desired tilt angle (e.g., 35 degrees).
- Enter the desired tilt angle (e.g., 35 degrees).
-
Adjust Row Spacing
- Go to Surface Edit and set the necessary row spacing to avoid shading.
- Alternatively, enable row shading based on the winter unshaded period you prefer.
